Stress... I feel like this word gets tossed around a lot and I know that it affects everyone differently, but I'm not sure we know exactly how it affects our body as a whole. We've all had a flare up with acne, head tension, sleep disruption, loss or increase of appetite, or skin irritations, but stress as a whole goes much much deeper then just a 'symptom' we can see or feel. What is stress? It is our body's natural response to dealing with difficult or demanding situations. It causes hormonal, respiratory, cardiovascular, and nervous system changes. For example, stress can cause your heart rate to increase, shortness of breath, increased perspiration, and muscle tension. Conversely, it can also give you a burst of energy and increases productivity.
This is known as your "fight or flight response." It is the chemical reaction that prepares your body for physical reaction because it thinks it's under attack. Most of us don't quite understand the severity behind this constant, daily inner conflict and we wonder why stress has such a tremendous impact on our life and our health.
Do you know where stress, as an emotion, is stored in the body? In our hearts. Now, if you look at statistics, Heart Disease is the #1 leading cause of death in the United States. It is also considered the "silent killer" for women as symptoms can be very non-specific. While this may feel scary, good news - by taking just a little extra time for our well-being, we can combat stress and ward off disease.
What if we told you that there is a way to diffuse your emotions in a matter of just 22 seconds and to allow that fight or flight response to dissipate in a matter of two minutes? Would you be willing to try it? Well there is, and it is scientifically proven that these particular little gifts work within the limbic system of the brain; the emotional part of your brain which needs the added support. What are these little gifts? Essential oils.

As a holistic practitioner, I have found that a good sweat session, nutrient-rich food, plenty of clean fluids, proper supplementation, deep breathing exercises, and consistent grounding and positive thoughts are all great practices to weave into your life. I like to think of Young Living oils and supplements as the missing link to a more wholesome way of living.
