Tired All the Time

If you feel tired most of the time, you’re not alone. 65% of Americans report that they do not wake up feeling rested and energized. 50% of those report sleeping 8 hours per night. We are considered by most medical journals to be an ‘exhausted nation’.

There are many reasons that we can feel tired every day, no matter how much sleep we get. One reason is that our nervous system has been thrown out of whack by the inherent stress in our lives. Our autonomic nervous system is responsible for control of the bodily functions not consciously directed, such as breathing, the heartbeat, and digestive processes. There are two parts of it: the sympathetic nervous system (Fight or Flight) and the parasympathetic nervous system (Rest and Digest). In a healthy individual, the working percentage should be 80% parasympathetic and 20% sympathetic. Most people are functioning in the reverse- 80% sympathetic and 20% parasympathetic.

Chiropractic helps with sleep by correcting the autonomic nervous system. This is why patients feel so ‘well’ under consistent chiropractic care. After regular adjustments from the Chiropractor, the autonomic nervous system resets back to 80% parasympathetic and 20% sympathetic functioning. The body is then in a state where it can sleep and sleep properly. As a result, with the same amount of sleep, you finally wake up feeling rested.

The truth is you do not have to live tired every day. Schedule HERE with our Doctor of Chiropractic, Dr. Lillee, and reenergize your life!
